Garden of Two Halves
The brief for this residential project was to create a wildlife garden that offered a social space for entertaining. With two contrasting desires from the client of a moroccan garden and a cottage-garden, for growing flowers and veg, I decided to divide the space. The Front half of the garden, which catches the evening light, allows for evening entertainment with a raised corten steel rill, which reflects the sky and the colours of the flowers behind. The second half of the garden is a more tranquil space, with a multitude of flower beds for growing cut flowers and vegetables. The spaces are divided by a tightly clipped yew hedge, offering structure and formality, with two Fig Trees either side for symmetry.
