Gardeners' Garden
A family garden in the heart of Somerset, inspired by UK woodland edges and cottage garden planting. Without parking at the front of the house, this back garden needs to function as a family space as well as the main route to and from the car. The running bond clay pavers retain an element of formality as you journey away from the house, through raised planters for herbs which fade out into a self binding gravel path edged with corten steel. A Greenhouse for summer tomatoes leads you on to a semi-sunken dining area with a herringbone paving pattern to indicate a change in mood. A circular lawn allows a small space for Childs play and picnicking in warmer months, dotted with clover, this pollinator friendly lawn will burst with colour along with attracting bees. As we move to the final third of the garden the mood changes as we move beneath a tall Silver Birch tree and dominating Oak. This Shady area offers a woodland play area for children and also a log bench for sitting in shade during the hotter times of the year.
